Therapeutic Approach

Each client comes to therapy with a different story and a unique set of needs. Therefore, my approach to treatment is eclectic and highly personalized. The methods listed below describe some, but not all of the strategies I utilize in treatment.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing. Please refer to www.brainspotting.com for more information.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of psychotherapy. According to the model, the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Our inner “parts” contain valuable qualities and our core Self knows how to heal, allowing us to become integrated and whole. By developing a greater understanding of our internal system, we develop the self awareness and confidence that is essential for our healing. Please refer to www.selfleadership.org for more information.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness- Based Therapy incorporates techniques such as meditation, breathing exercises as a method of becoming more aware of yourself and your environment. The goal is to notice your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in a nonjudgmental way. Mindfulness is a highly effective tool to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, and even physical pain.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a well known treatment modality that focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.
